Job Description:
We are seeking a full-time Senior Diagnostic Medical Physicist to join a growing team in the Dallas, TX area. As a key member of the team, you will support imaging centers and hospital departments such as radiology, radiation oncology, and cardiology by performing evaluations of a wide variety of imaging systems. Your role will ensure compliance with state regulations, accreditation requirements, and practice standards, while also evaluating image quality to ensure optimal performance of imaging equipment. This position is based in Dallas, TX, with opportunities for collaboration and growth in a dynamic healthcare environment.
Primary Responsibilities:

Perform routine audits of compliance records related to equipment registration, regulations, and Radiation Protection Programs.

Conduct annual performance evaluations of radiologic imaging systems (fluoroscopy, radiography, mammography, and CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) systems, ultrasound, nuclear medicine cameras, and more.

Oversee and review technologist quality control programs.

Attend and participate in hospital Radiation Safety Committee (RSC) and Radiation Protocol Committee (RPC) meetings.

Consult with staff in response to occupational and patient over-exposures.

Provide guidance to technologists, radiologists, and Radiation Safety Officers (RSO) on clinical protocol management and radiation safety.

Offer radiation safety and magnet safety training to ancillary staff and technologists.

Review occupational dosimetry reports and provide consultation on radiation exposure concerns.

Assess public exposure in areas surrounding x-ray rooms and ensure compliance with safety standards.

Design, consult, and assess shielding requirements, ensuring integrity and adequacy of installed supplemental shielding.

Perform additional duties as needed.
Qualifications:
-
Board certification by the American Board of Radiology in Diagnostic Medical Physics or board eligibility (through a CAMPEP-accredited residency in diagnostic physics).

Clinical experience in diagnostic imaging, including radiation safety, protocol development, and knowledge of regulatory standards (ACR, TJC, etc.).

Technical expertise in state regulations and compliance with accreditation bodies.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to develop and implement solutions.

Ability to demonstrate initiative, organization, and ownership of daily tasks and projects.
Physical Requirements:

Ability to wear a lead apron and remain stationary for extended periods.

Capable of lifting and moving test equipment (up to 50 lbs).

Comfortable driving between client facilities with travel times exceeding 60 minutes.

Occasional evening or weekend work required.
