Our client, a leading law firm, is seeking a highly skilled Legal Assistant to support a team of attorneys in Baton Rouge. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic legal environment where your contributions will directly impact the efficiency and success of the team. Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilize technology to ensure the attorneys operate efficiently and effectively.
  • Prepare and format legal documents by transcribing, inputting, editing, and retrieving text and data using office software applications.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of legal processes to ensure accurate preparation of client documents and timely filing.
  • Coordinate and manage e-filings, including state court filings as needed.
  • Manage incoming and outgoing correspondence, including mail and faxes, and scan and save documents into appropriate digital workspaces.
  • Maintain attorneys’ daily calendars, including scheduling meetings, appointments, and travel arrangements.
  • Manage contacts and client information in Outlook.
  • Open and close files, assist with conflict checks, and ensure all documents are correctly filed.
  • Support attorneys with timesheet management and billing responsibilities, ensuring timely and accurate billing to clients.
  • Process attorney reimbursements through ChromeRiver and manage client costs with Accounts Payable.
  • Maintain strong, professional relationships with clients, using discretion and judgment in all interactions.
  • Regular attendance and reliability are essential for this role.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; an associate degree or business school certificate is a plus.
  • 3+ years of legal secretarial experience in a law firm. Experience in corporate or business law, or real estate legal matters, is highly preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and PDF applications.
  • Familiarity with legal practices, terminology, and court procedures.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to work under pressure.
