Grants and Compliance Accounting Manager – Part Time

Our client, a dynamic and mission-driven organization, is seeking a Grants and Compliance Accounting Manager to play a crucial role in overseeing the daily operations of their grant programs. This position is essential to maintaining compliance with legal and financial regulations while ensuring the smooth flow of funding processes.
Key Responsibilities: In this role, the Grants and Compliance Accounting Manager will:
- Oversee the entire grant lifecycle, from proposal development and submission through to monitoring and compliance, ensuring a seamless process from start to finish.
- Ensure compliance with funding source guidelines by thoroughly reviewing and understanding grant terms and conditions to guarantee alignment with funder requirements.
- Lead the preparation and management of grant budgets, ensuring they are accurate and align with organizational objectives.
- Maintain accurate financial records and produce timely quarterly financial statements.
- Coordinate with auditors to complete the single government audit, ensuring adherence to all regulatory and financial standards.
- Monitor grant spending, ensuring it stays on track with budget projections and guidelines.
- Collaborate with sub-grantees to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with both US private foundation regulations, including expenditure responsibility, and Indian FCRA laws.
- Review and coordinate legal documents such as grant agreements, sub-award agreements, and service contracts.
- Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Government Auditing Standards (GAGAS).
- Take on other duties as needed to support the smooth functioning of the organization.
Qualifications & Experience: Our client is looking for a candidate who brings:
- A bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of experience in the nonprofit sector, with expertise in general accounting, budget development, grants management, and compliance.
- Knowledge of 2 C.F.R. 200 (Uniform Guidance) and its application in a nonprofit setting.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with a strong attention to detail and the ability to collaborate across teams.
- A resourceful, adaptable, and collaborative mindset, with the ability to resolve complex issues efficiently.
- Strong analytical skills, capable of compiling and analyzing data to create clear, concise reports.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in accounting software, ideally Sage Intacct or similar ERP systems.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace tools.
