Our client is looking for a Material Review Engineer (MRE) to join their team, specializing in the review and disposition of non-conforming material for gas turbine engines (aero-engine, industrial, or marine). The role involves working closely with the Design Authority, Quality, and Manufacturing teams to ensure the highest standards of engineering excellence and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Primary Responsibility: Review and disposition Non-Conforming Material (NC), including parts, deviation requests, and waivers from OEMs and the supply base. This includes reviewing technical specifications, fit, form, function, safety, and regulatory compliance.
- Ensure that non-conforming parts are appropriately segregated and managed in compliance with regulatory standards while awaiting review and formal disposition.
- Collaborate with Design Authorities to assess part repair requirements or usage parameters.
- Conduct assessments related to engineering principles such as tolerance stacks, GD&T interpretation, interchangeability, and repair requirements.
- Must obtain and maintain “Certified MRE” status through customer-provided certification. Certification training will be provided by Quest Global.
- Mentor, train, and provide technical guidance to less experienced engineers.
- Participate in quality control processes, including Corrective Action Boards (CAB), and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.
Required Qualifications:
- Education: BSME/BSAE degree.
- Experience:
- 7+ years of experience in gas turbine design (aero-engine preferred) with partial MRE certification.
- 15+ years of experience for full MRE certification, allowing the engineer to perform tasks across multiple engine components.
- In-depth experience with MRB (Material Review Board) processes and non-conformance management in government-regulated industries (Aerospace & Defense, Medical, Mass Transit).
- Experience interacting with ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) for managing and storing NC data.
- Expertise in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, with strong knowledge of GD&T and modern manufacturing processes (metal, composites).
- Proven experience in quality assurance processes, including part qualification, non-conforming material disposition, and continuous improvement projects.

- Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision.
- Experience with developing and mentoring junior engineers is highly valued.
Work Environment:
- Office and/or shop floor environments with periodic physical tasks, including lifting up to 25 lbs.
- Frequent use of a computer for technical work, reviewing documents, and managing data.
- Flexibility to work overtime as needed to meet project deadlines.
- Ability to travel and work on-site at customer locations as required.
